WebM to JPG converter

This WebM to JPG converter grabs still frames from a video. Pick an exact frame or save one every few seconds, then download them as JPG files.

How to convert WebM to JPG

  1. Choose your WebM video, or drop it on the box above. MP4 files that your browser can play also work.
  2. Drag the slider to the moment you want. Use the Back and Forward buttons to move in steps of 0.1 seconds and find the sharpest picture.
  3. Click Save this frame as JPG, or enter a number of seconds and click Save frames to grab one at regular steps.
  4. Download each frame, or all of them in one ZIP.

Picking the right frame

Moving subjects can look blurred in a single frame, so step a little either side and choose the cleanest one. Frames come out at the full size of the video, for example 1920x1080 for a Full HD recording.

Save many frames at once

To make a contact sheet or collect pictures from a screen recording, set the interval. A value of 2 saves a frame every two seconds, starting at the beginning. Each run saves up to 60 frames. For a longer video, use a bigger interval or run the tool again from another point.

Which videos work?

WebM is the format most browsers record screens and cameras in. Chrome, Edge and Firefox play it, and recent versions of Safari do as well. If your browser cannot play the file, you will see a message, and trying another browser usually fixes it. Everything is decoded locally, so large files simply depend on your device.

After you save frames

Frames from a video can be large. Shrink them with the JPEG compressor or set an exact size such as compress to 200KB. Need a different size in pixels? Use the image resizer. Got a WebP picture instead of a video? Use the WebP to JPG converter.

Good to know

Each frame is saved as a full-colour JPG copy of what the video shows at that moment, and the quality slider controls the file size. Raise it for detail, lower it for smaller files. Video that was recorded with transparency, such as some screen captures, is saved on a solid background because JPG cannot store transparency.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a whole video to JPG images?

You can save a frame every fraction of a second, up to 60 frames per run, and download them as a ZIP. That is the nearest thing to a full conversion, since a video is a series of pictures.

Does it work with MP4?

Yes, as long as your browser can play the file. The tool uses the browser’s own video player to read frames.

Why will my video not load?

The browser may not support the video’s codec. Try Chrome, Edge or Firefox, or open a different file.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The video is played and read inside your browser, so it never leaves your device.
