PNG converter

This PNG converter changes images to PNG, or turns a PNG into JPG, WebP, AVIF or BMP, all in one place.

Lower means a smaller file.

Width × height (px)

How to use the PNG converter

  1. Choose or drop your images above.
  2. Pick the output format. PNG is selected by default, so other formats are converted to PNG.
  3. Download each file, or save them all as a ZIP.

Which format should you pick?

  • PNG: sharp graphics, screenshots and anything that needs transparency.
  • JPG: photos and small files that open everywhere.
  • WebP and AVIF: the smallest files for websites, with transparency support.
  • BMP: uncompressed files for older software.

About the PNG format

PNG is lossless, so every pixel is kept exactly, and it supports transparent backgrounds. That makes it the standard for logos, icons, screenshots and design work. The cost is file size: a PNG photo can be five to ten times larger than the same picture as a JPG.

Pages for one specific conversion

If you know exactly what you need, these pages explain the details: JPG to PNG, PNG to JPG, PNG to WebP, PNG to AVIF and PNG to ICO for favicons and Windows icons.

Keeping files small

Converting to PNG will not reduce file size. If your goal is a lighter file, convert to JPG or WebP instead, or use the online compression tool to hit a size limit.

Common PNG conversions

  • Screenshot too large to email: convert to JPG or WebP.
  • Photo from a website saved as WebP and rejected by a form: convert to JPG or PNG.
  • Logo needed as an icon: use PNG to ICO.
  • Graphic for a website: convert to WebP or AVIF to save bandwidth.

Resize at the same time if you need different dimensions. Choose Fit inside to keep the whole picture, or Crop to fill for an exact size. The image resizer has more detail on both.

The converter keeps your original file untouched and names each result after it with “-tech9pros” added, so you can compare the two.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert any image to PNG?

Yes. JPG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and SVG files can all be saved as PNG, as long as your browser can open them.

Does converting to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG stops further quality loss when you edit and save, but it cannot restore detail that a JPG or WebP already lost.

Will transparency be kept?

Yes for PNG, WebP and AVIF. JPG and BMP have no transparency, so transparent areas turn white.
