How to convert JFIF to JPG

  1. Choose or drop one or more JFIF files above.
  2. Adjust quality if needed. 90% keeps excellent detail.
  3. Download each JPG, or save them all as a ZIP.

Why do I have a JFIF file?

JFIF is a JPEG photo with a different file ending. Some browsers save images from the web as .jfif, and Windows may not offer to open them in common apps. The picture inside is a normal JPEG, so converting is quick and safe.

Convert or just rename?

You can often rename photo.jfif to photo.jpg and it will open, because the content is identical. Converting does the same job for many files at once, lets you resize at the same time, and saves a clean new file without touching the original.

Quality and size

  • The default quality of 90% keeps excellent detail with a small file.
  • Lower the quality for a smaller file, or raise it to stay closer to the original.
  • Use Resize to reduce big photos for email or forms.

Privacy, speed and file names

Every JFIF file is opened and saved as JPG inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded and conversion starts right away. Speed depends on your device, not your connection. Results are named after the original with “-tech9pros” added, so your originals are never overwritten. Renaming the file to .jpg also works, if you only have one or two.

Converting many files

Select up to 30 files at once and download them one by one or as a single ZIP. If you change a setting, the files are converted again with the new value, so you can try a different quality without adding them again.

If something goes wrong

If a file will not open, check that it is really an image. A JFIF that was cut off during download is the usual reason.

Frequently asked questions

Does JFIF to JPG reduce quality?

Only slightly, because the file is saved again as a JPEG. At 90% quality it is hard to see. Renaming the file avoids any loss.

Why does Windows save images as JFIF?

Some browsers choose .jfif when saving a JPEG from a website. The image itself is an ordinary JPEG.

Can I convert many JFIF files at once?

Yes. Select or drop up to 30 files and download them one by one or as a ZIP.
