- Download the resized files individually or as a ZIP.
About 1200x480 pixels
A 1200x480 image is landscape, with an aspect ratio of 5:2, and holds 0.58 megapixels. At 300 DPI it would print at about 4.0 x 1.6 inches (10.2 x 4.1 cm). As a JPEG it usually lands between 63KB and 127KB, depending on the picture and the quality you choose.
Where 1200x480 is used
A common size for the profile banner on a Twitch channel page, in a wide 5:2 shape.
- Put the important part in the centre. Apps crop banners differently on phones and desktops.
- Avoid small text near the edges, where profile pictures and buttons can cover it.
- Keep the file light. A banner of a few hundred KB loads fast and is rarely rejected.
Crop to fill or fit inside?
Crop to fill always gives exactly 1200x480 by trimming the edges that do not match the shape. Fit inside keeps the whole picture and scales it so neither side exceeds 1200x480, which can leave one side shorter. For a typical 4:3 phone photo, crop to fill removes about 47% of the picture. A 3:2 camera photo loses about 40%, a 16:9 screenshot about 29%, and a square image about 60%.
Quality and format
Check the result before you upload
Open the finished file and check three things: the picture measures 1200x480, the subject is not cut off, and the file is small enough for where you upload it. If a platform sets a size limit, run the result through the online compression tool or choose a limit such as 200KB.
A tip for this size
Keep the main content in the centre, where it stays visible on all screens. Need another size? Try 1500x500, 1080x566, 820x312, the general image resizer, or browse every size preset.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my image not exactly 1200x480?
You are probably using Fit inside, which never crops. Switch to Crop to fill for exact dimensions.
How big will a 1200x480 file be?
As a JPEG, usually between 63KB and 127KB. Photos with lots of fine detail come out larger, and simple graphics smaller. Lower the quality for a smaller file.
Is 1200x480 the right size for Twitch channel banners?
It is a widely used size for Twitch channel banners, but platforms and agencies change their rules. Check the current guidelines before you upload.
Will a small photo look blurry at 1200x480?
If the original is smaller than this size, the tool has to enlarge it, and the result can look soft. Start from the largest version you have.
